An Update

Well, it has been a while! I really have good intentions concerning this blog...and then it never pans out. But alas...here we go.

We are gearing up for our first year of homeschooling which we are very excited about. This is a new and somewhat scary adventure but from what I have read and heard from others, these are normal feelings. We are confident that this is what God is calling us to do and, although we have been questioned and even had people try to talk us out of this, telling us that we are wrong, we are pressing forward with great expectations!

One of the questions people ask the most is "what curriculum will you use?" So -
I purchased curriculum for five-year olds from handsonhomeschooling.com as a base, and we will also be using hooked on phonics, teach your child to read in 100 Easy Lessons, plus various printable worksheets and projects from some of my favorite blogs such as confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com & homeschoolcreations.blogspot.com among others. We will be doing LOTS of reading, hands-on learning, singing and making music, bible reading and activities, crafts, nature walks, cooking, playing and having TONS of fun along the way! I hope to record our journey along the way but I am not making any promises. I know many of my friends and family members will be interested to see what exactly we do and so it would be fun to provide a glimpse into our fledgling little Jewell school. So we shall see! I pray all is well with everyone and God bless! Hopefully more to come!

Yeah for Jewell school!! :-) Sending tons of encouragement your way. You can do this, and the benefits you reap will be worth more than anything. :-)
