The Things We Do

I love being a mom - especially to these sweet little ones! There are days where it is tough to muster up the grace and patience needed. There days when life feels so mundane and pointless but I know that feelings do not equal truth (my girls in the youth group hear this over and over and over and over and...). Thus, I am striving to cherish each moment spent with my little ones. Even the snotty nose wiping, poopy diaper changing, teary-eyed whining, high squeaky voices repeating things a hundred times, wanna-snatch-myself-bald-headed kinda days! You know the ones I am talking about! Yet, I believe that God has called me to be a stay-ay-home mom and to homeschool my children and even though it's not always easy, it's a blessing and a privilege - an honor.

A passage in God's word that I have been meditating on lately is Philippians 4:6-9 which says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." So, when Satan tempts me to dwell on all the other things I could be doing outside the home, when I start to wonder if I am a good enough mom or think that I can't do this, whenever I am worried or anxious, I repeat these verses to myself and combat the enemies antics with the sword of truth. The enemy comes to steal and kill and destroy but we are told in John 10:10 that Jesus came so that we could have life abundantly. So my goal is to live the life that God has called me to with abundance, to enjoy my husband and children, and to serve with a cheerful heart just as my Savior did.

baking cookies of any assortment!




Remember that enjoying each other doesn't have to be a big ordeal. It doesn't have to wait until that big vacation or until you have a lot of money. Just savor the every day moments...I hear they fly right by...

Yes they do fly right by! It seems like yesterday I was changing the diapers and wiping the noses, but I am now sending my daughter to high school. Definitely savor the NOW.
